Okay, we’ve been live on WordPress and Blue Host for five minutes and already I’ve lost a post. Don’t know exactly what I did with it or where to find it but it should be here somewhere. Rather than look around for it, I figured I’d just recreate it.

All Bigwig’s posts seem to be misattributed as well. Hmmm.

I’ll figure it out later. I’m going to bed.

Due to problems we’ve had with comment spam and with upgrading our installation of Movable Type, this blog is moving to WordPress. As soon as I can get all 7000+ entries imported into WordPress, we’ll throw the switch and hopefully reinvigorate this blog. Hopefully I’ll have the mammoth task completed by the end of the day. If not, it’ll have to wait until next week as I’m flying out for New York tomorrow.

Update Not only are we moving from Movable Type to WordPress, we’re switching hosting too. I’ve had it with trying to import data to Yahoo’s crap-ass servers. We’re switching to Blue Host, WordPress’ recommended hosting partner. It’s cheaper, presents a better package and has features that are at least comparable.

We’re probably going dark for a short while since I have to change our domain nameservers before I can do anything in the new environment. The IP address of the new account keeps redirecting to our current hosting account for some reason.

have been turned off. I’m tired of spending an hour a day deleting comment spam. Yes, I know there are alternatives, but I don’t particularly have time for them either at the moment.

I’m going to try to update the blog to the latest version of MT. It could be a huge mistake. If this disappears, it was. The blog is backed up, however, and will be restored if it comes to it.

Update: It didn’t work.

Comments may not work for a while. I’m working on installing a comment-filtering plug-in to reduce the amount of comment spam we get. I’m getting an error so something isn’t working. Hold please.

Updated: Comments are apparently fixed. We’ll see if the anti-spam efforts I’ve made will prove worthwhile.

Okay, now all I need to do is import the 10 or 12 missing posts and we’re golden. Bigwig, you may post when ready. Whenever you finish Harry Potter, that is.

Been trying to fix the comments on this blog all day. Finally was able to get the blog backed up, deleted and reinstalled. Couldn’t get all the entries to import but most of them are here. I’ll try again tomorrow to reimport the remaining entries. But right now I’m going to bed.
