What She Used To Be

So apparently the old blog isn’t quite so dead as she appears. As Miracle Max might say, it’s only “mostly” dead! Since I put up the link to my new blog (shameless promotion), Hraka has schooled even Facebook in sending it traffic. It’s not a heap but it’s more than I expected for sure. It warms my heart to think the old girl still has legs after all these years and after all the neglect we’ve heaped upon her lately. Thanks again to all the loyal readers.

I still give Hraka a look now and then. It’s the first blog I ever started reading on a regular basis. The writing has always had wit and the comments were great quality.

I even started my first blog several months ago… Its amateur hour, but I keep it light.

I’ll give the new blog a look… best wishes guys. Sully

Just fyi, that link you left for your new blog doesn’t actually work …

    Hey!

My name is Irina, and I am helping my friend with the website AFaithfulSoldier.com:
    http://www.afaithfulsoldier.com

The site just went up, honoring everyone in the US military all around the world. Dog tags are sold on it, of which 15% of all proceeds goes to charity (Soldier’s Angels) which helps injured soldiers or families of those that lost their lives in the military. Soldier’s Angels will be issuing a national press release for AFaithfulSoldier, so that will be great, but we need all the help we can get! The tags could be personalized with either your name or someone you know in the military and would make great gifts with great respect. I’m going out on a limb here, but I’m hoping you can perhaps add a link or make a minor mention somewhere in your blog about my friend’s site. I think it’s a great idea and trying to help where I can. Also, she’s working on getting a links page up on her site, so if you would link to Afaithfulsoldier.com, she will add your link once that page is up. As you know, reciprocal linking benefits both of us by raising our search rankings and generating more traffic to both of our sites.

It would be greatly appreciated, and if not, I can understand ;)

If you do decide to post the link, let me know the URL of the page that it’s on, and I will make sure that your link gets posted on her site once the page is up!

    Please email me @ afaithfulsoldier(at) gmail.com

    Thank you very much,

    Irina

Proctoring a final exam … surfing … thinking up blogs that I don’t RSS that I haven’t visited in a while … and this one popped into my mind.

Sad to see you’ve moved on … where’s Bigwig these days?

    Is this still active blog?

My daughter LTC in US Army says she sees a large flock of smalish birds go to the same tree (type unknown) about 1900 each evening and asked me to help determine the species; can someone help her and me?

  6. Jenn says:

Hello, I just found your blog because I am researching John MacAlpine Siddall’s work with Ida Tarbell. I’ve been doing archival research and cataloging their correspondence during the writing of The History of the Standard Oil Company. I’d be interested in talking with you about Siddall, about some of the documents that I’ve had access to.

    Thanks!

I’m still here, and I blame the three children for taking the time that I used to spend blogging, but the real reason Hraka fell silent is that I felt that for the most part, I said what I had to say, and didn’t really feel like repeating myself over and over. I suspect that once enough time passes–and as my perspective shifts with my inevitable aging, that’s I’ll start blogging again.

    Or perhaps I’m just lazy.

John, email the picture to Big at nc dot rr dot com, and I’ll see what I can do. Sorry to take three months to respond :)
