Why do you think this displays dissonance? There are many people who think their own thoughts. They allow politicians neither to think for them nor to tell them what to think. I am one of those myself. People who refuse to slavishly follow either the “conservative” or “liberal” agenda are often pretty smart people. BTW, thanks for a new post!

It displays dissonance because to support one typically is to oppose the other, of course. Support for Obama and a a pro-life stance are oil and water–ergo, cognitive dissonance.
