…you’re disappointed they didn’t win by 30. Just got back from my first visit to the Atlanta chapter of the UNC Alumni club at the Cheyenne Grill. I watched UNC beat Florida State by 26 points, and was pulling for 30 late in the game. I didn’t want to see our 10-game average drop from its 33 point level. As it is, I had to settle for the 26 point win. Oh well.

Thoughts from the game: Al Thornton has been at FSU for something like nine years. Tyler Hansbrough is a beast and he and Brandon Wright are gone after this season. UNC will still be in a better situation than the last major exodus to the NBA. The team is really deep. Quentin Thomas is much improved as far as ball-handling is concerned. My last thought is that UNC won by 26 and didn’t even look like they were in top form. They missed a lot of open shots and played sloppily at times. They are really good.

Will they win the National Championship? I don’t know. They’re still young and the season is still young. But they can beat any team in the nation when they’re on. I look forward to watching them play for the rest of the season.

Last thought: Bobby Knight may have passed Dean Smith for the most-college basketball wins but it won’t last. Coach K. from Duke will pass him eventually. I’m okay with that. Roy Williams is going to pass them all one of these days.

Oh…one more thought: Clemson is the last undefeated team in the nation. The apocolypse is nigh. This may be the year they beat UNC in Chapel Hill. At least it’ll be a hell of a game. I’m glad to see the resurgence of Clemson and Virginia, even though Virginia lost to Stanford tonight. They’ve been irrelevant for too long.

I also think Sidney Lowe is going to do just fine at State. And I am very happy that Virginia Tech beat Duke.

And that’s it.

Has anyone heard from Wake Forest basketball this year? Or did the school sell its collective soul to the Devil for football success?
