Much more likely they'd be bought than that they'd fold - they have a brand and a following, and a massive catalogue. Worth money to someone. Googletoons.com, anyone?

I've been a customer on and off since 2003. What's got better is the range of music (there's some very, very good stuff in there, not just bargain drawer music); the online magazine that is their website; and the quality of the MP3s (tho if you play them thru' a really good stereo you might still prefer a proper variable rate or lossless format). The customer service I've always found quite good. What's got worse is that a rapidly increasing number of labels are restricting distribution by geography. So if you DON'T have a US billing address for your credit card, be aware that 20% or so of what you see, you can't get - and that proportion feels to me to be rising quite quickly. Also be aware that although you can in theory re-download anything, if you've downloaded track(s) that are subsequently blocked for your region, you CAN'T download them again.

But basically it's good. It was too cheap anyway, so paying a bit more, for a lot more choice these days, is fine by me. And I wouldn't stress about bankruptcy. It won't happen.

Yikes - I had not thought of them folding & wonder if Credit Card company would offer purchase protection. IT IS still possible to get 90/month - as a long-term subscriber I prepaid for my next year & got the old rate= $0.19/track. BUT I had not considered they may fold. Rumor is usually about a buy-out.
