U.S. Says China Boosts Internet Monitoring

In this day and age, I find it hard to believe that U.S. companies would be duplicitous in the case of a government spying on its own people. It’s outrageous and I think the companies involved should be sternly rebuked.

I mean, it’s one thing for a government to spy on its own citizenry, but with the willing help of commercial concerns? Who ever heard of such a thing??

Oh…wait. Nevermind.

I guess it’s only a cause for concern when it’s somebody else doing it.
Obviously congress isn’t that concerned about potentially similar abuses in the U.S.

Pakistani Cartoon Protests Largest Yet.

Amidst the burning flags, cars, KFCs and European embassies, it struck me that something was missing: crowds of angry Westerners burning…anything. There has been a noticeable lack of angry Western crowds responding in kind of the demonstrations of Islam.

There have been no crowds of angry Westerners throwing stones at police. There have been no crowds of angry Westerners torching flags or demonstrating in front of Mosques or burning the embassies of Iran, Pakistan, Syria or Lebanon. There have been no gangs of violent Christians or Jews carrying signs through the streets saying that all who oppose the West (or their particular religion) should be beheaded so they can burn all the more rapidly in hell.

Further, there have been no violent clashes with police. There have been no deaths. There have been no cases of places of business being assaulted. I haven’t even seen a single image of a Westerner frothing at the mouth.

Where is the Western response to this outrageous behavior?

It’s not out in the streets being debated in blood and bullets, fire and tear gas. It’s here on the web or out in the mainstream media where the only thing being sparked is discussion and debate.

Message to radical Muslims of the world: this is how civil societies handle their problems. They don’t froth at the mouth, offering threats and demanding respect. They offer insight and earn respect. That’s how we do it over here in the West. You might take note and learn a thing or two.
