Mohamed ElBaradei says Iran needs to show more transparency in their nuclear program. He says the international community is losing patience with Iran.

Uh oh. We know what happens when the international community loses its patience.

Nothing.

And after some time passes…

More nothing.

If you take a look at the ten-year forecast, you’ll see a gigantic nothing front moving through, followed by a chance of (mushroom) clouds.

They’ve seen the Iraq example. They know you get at least a dozen stern, but empty warnings from the UN before things start to get hot. They probably figure that since they didn’t invade Kuwait, their leash is even longer than that. And they also know that the nation that finally held Iraq’s feet to the fire has been excoriated for the action by the very same Nobel laureate who is warning them now.

Why should Iran’s response be anything but public head-nodding and private laughter?

Things seem to be sounding better regarding the drum kill. Here’s another report posted @ Tradewinds. I’m wanting to believe this was more like it and very few of the big drum were killed. In a rush to support an existing position regarding commercial fishing and stripers, it seems that many of us (myself included) picked up and ran with intital reports that MAY have been exaggerated. That being the case, I ask this: How reliable are the fishing reports @ RDT? This was my source and I passed it on based on 2 other websites that were saying the same thing. I have always thought that tackle shops (less Tradewinds) might inflate things some to get the fisherman down and spending $$. However, there’s a HUGE difference in these two versions. I still think we need some type of limited entry permit striper season that would allow commercial harvesting, IF we allow it at all. For the record, I would like to see stripers classified as gamefish and eliminate ALL commercial harvesting with continued (even greater) restrictions on rec harvest. We are pulling them out too soon! A 30 to 40 pounder is not a big one when compared to past fish. 60 to 80 pounders would be big w/30 to 40 pounders common. They need some more time. Up in next post: maximum sustainable yield (MSY).
