Pope to change D&D cosmology.

Report is in and confirmed via Red Drum Tackle that there has been a pretty massive drum kill due to some dumb ass non OBX commercial guys coming in and trying to set a net for the stripers around Ramp 44/Cape Point area. Estimates are 300+ red drum. Mostly large citation sized drum over 40 inches. Apparently, the local commercials knew that water temps would make a big difference and went looking further north and did quite well without killing the drum. This exposes a serious flaw with a quota system that allows all folks holding a commercial license to fish until a quota is reached. Hence, everyone rushes to catch as many as possible before the season is closed. What we need is a limited entry/permit system for the stripers that caters to local commercial fisherman w/an OBX history. This should piss us all off! Write/call/email anyone who will listen. No it’s not all of the drum, but think about how many eggs these 300plus fish could spawn. Lastly, one of us might have caught and released one of these big ones on our next trip!! Sadly, I’m guessing that no laws were actually broken so there is not much we can do to prevent this in the future. Well, they did break the “STUPID LAW” and ought to be at least flogged, tarred and rolled in sand!! SAVE THE DRUM!!!
