The White House is taking a lot of heat for supposedly staging a presidential teleconference with a bunch of soldiers now serving in Iraq. The group - half officers, half non-coms and an Iraqi soldier, is alleged to have been coached in what to say and what not to say, if you believe the mainstream media, which is calling the event stage managed, repeated the claim it was scripted.

While the WH deserves a lot of heat for various things it’s done, this isn’t one of them.

The event wasn’t a scripted Q&A. The only thing that was pre-arranged was where to sit, and how to pass the microphone, and which person (by job) was probably best suited to answer what kind of question.

I seem to be coming out of the post trip blues. However, seeing the daily reports and pictures from Tradewinds hasn’t helped speed the healing. I hate to think that the last few years, today/tomorrow would be the day we’d usually be heading down and fishing the third week of October. Too bad because it looks like the drum run has really kicked off in the last few days! Wished I’d stayed another day or so to visit with those that came in on Wednesday. I hear the fishing was still off but I heard Howard’s got really jumping on Friday. Fishing the Neuse paid off though as I caught a really nice drum (26 inch/8 pounder) as well as a few specks. Curt picked up a keeper drum as well. Nice to take home the meat and feed the family. Let’s get a spring weekend worked up. Drum make 2 runs. If we can’t get them in Oct let’s try April!!! I’ll be taking the boy down to CDL and fishing 2nd week of November. I’ll update w/results!
