I’ve got a three year old, and while I would never think to take her to a political event, if I did I would once have thought that her age and obvious innocence would allow her to leave it unmolested, as I’m sure Mr. Parlock thought. His motives aside, he should have been right.
Ngnat would absolutely love waving a sign around, no matter what it said, just as I’m sure Sophia Parlock did before she was assaulted by union thugs. One thing for sure–she’ll be a lifelong Republican voter once she’s old enough for the franchise.
If I were in the Bush/Cheney campaign, that little girl would get airshipped the biggest goddam campaign sign they make for her front yard–and some ballons. Little girls like balloons–a bunch of ballons can cure a world of hurt.
As for the union, The t-shirts worn by the….bastards surrounding Sophia mark them as members of the International Union of Painters & Allied Trades.

Update: Sophia has a brother and a sister serving in the Armed Forces.
If women get in a position where they need to know how to defend themselves, they should know how, but they shouldn’t purposely be put in that position, said Parlock, a Barboursville father of 10 children.
His son Philip, 20, is an intelligence analyst with the 2nd/ 19th Special Forces unit at Kenova. His daughter Pamela, 19, is a truck driver with the 1257th transportation group. She’s now stationed at West Point, filling in for a deployed unit there.
Ironic, and sad, how the family of Philip and Pamela, who have both volunteered to defend the rights of Americans, is denied their expression of those rights by fellow Americans
Still More Update: Rising Hegemon points out that Parlock has had the amazing luck to be attacked by Democrats in the last three elections, though the data he cites comes from a Lexis-Nexis search rather than online–not that there’s anything wrong with that kind of data–which at the very least attests to Parlock’s ability to push Democratic buttons.
The thing is, they shouldn’t be there to be pushed. RH also wonders if the union guy to the left of Parlock isn’t a relative. Doesn’t look like it to me, but it’s hard to tell from the picture he offers for comparison.
Final Update? Statement from the General President Regarding the Events in Huntington, WV
The International Union of Painters and Allied Trades believes in the fundamental right for civil discourse, freedom of speech and activism to support our candidates and issues.
What happened in Huntington, West Virginia yesterday is an affront to everything we, as a union, pride ourselves to represent. We extend our apologies to the Parlock family, especially Sophia, for the distress one of our overzealous members caused them.
I have personally taken steps to address this issue internally, and will take immediate disciplinary action to the full extent allowed under U.S. Department of Labor regulations and the constitution of the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades.
It is my hope that this incident reminds all of our members that every last citizen in this country has the right to express his or herself freely. Not one single one of us has the right to tell them otherwise.
