XM, No Static At All

Birthday Presents

From the Sainted Wife, XM Radio. I spent most of the day installing it, then waiting for the satellite to download the channel information to the receiver, which required leaving the key in the ignition for an hour or so while the process completed. It would seem that leaving the car in one place during this time is preferable to driving it around, though I have no solid proof of that.

I knew it was coming, of course. It’s not really the type of present one springs on a person. I thought about getting Sirius instead, but figured there was no point in paying the extra three bucks a month for NPR when I don’t give NPR any money in the first place.

As I am the King of Cartoon Underwear, Ngnat and theoretically Scotty M. gave me three pairs of Spongebob boxers, including the one in the middle, and a Spongebob T-Shirt.

From the ‘rents: Barnes & Noble Gift Card. Half will go to The DaVinci Code, half to children’s books. Maybe Make Way For Ducklings, as Ngnat really likes Blueberries for Sal right now.

I’d buy a cd, except that I’ve become addicted to buying my music via the various one cent cd sellers at e-bay. The secret is to buy from one seller at a time, never offering more than a few cents for each of their cds, and buying seven or eight at a time to save on shipping. I got the following for $12, including shipping, yesterday.

Greenhouse – Tomorrow The World
Rosemary Clooney – Some Of The Best
Crowded House – Together Alone
Junior Reid – Listen To The Voices
Various Artists – The 60′s
Meat Loaf – Back Into Hell
Primitive Radio Gods – Rocket

Nothing to shake the world with, but all were easily worth the average of $1.70 I ended up paying for each of them.

From Kehaar: Bitching and moaning because he was going to buy silflayhraka.com for me, but I beat him to it when the blogspot site crashed. Dude, there’s always silflayhraka.net.
